It may still be a little warm outside, but the Museum of Arts and Sciences is gearing up for the Holiday Exhibit -Festival of Trees!
We are very excited that you will be designing a tree for the Museum this year. The overall 31st Festival of Trees theme is Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, but there is no specific theme restriction for this year’s exhibit. Tree design work will begin Wednesday, November 1 st and will conclude Sunday, November 5 th. The Exhibit will commence on Wednesday, November 8 th , 2017 and end on Sunday, January 14 th , 2018. Your talents will help to ensure this institution continues its commitment as a leading cultural resource for visitors to discover and enjoy. Without your dedication to the Museum and Festival of Trees , the continuation of this exhibit would not be possible.
Tree design proposal which are due by October 2nd .
You will have the option of using your own tree or you may use one of the Museum's trees. If you choose to use the Museum's trees, we will assign tree size on a first-received-contract basis.
TREE DESIGNER GUIDELINES
Designers who choose to use the Museum's tree with will be assigned a tree size on a
first-contract-received basis. Designers may request a Museum tree ranging from 3 feet to 8 feet.Designer contracts are due back to the Museum by Monday, October 2, 2017. Please be sure to indicate if you would like to donate or reclaim your decorations. Any Designerwishing to reclaim their decorations after the Festival must do so during Museum operating hours, January 16 th -21 st , 2018 (Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm; Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm).If you need to reclaim decorations after hours, please make prior arrangements.
TREE DESIGN PROPOSAL:
Tree design proposals are due back to the Museum by Monday, October 2, 2017. Please be as specific as possible when describing your tree design. Designers will be notified and revisions may be necessary should any two trees appear to be too similar.
Decorating will take place at the Museum November 1 st – November 5 th ( Wednesday through Saturday 10:00am-5:00 pm; Sunday from 1:00pm-5:00pm). If access is needed after hours, please notify Rebecca Cunningham in advance and she will try to accommodate you. Designers should furnish skirt or otherwise include covering base of tree in design. If Designer is using the Museum's potted trees, a tree skirt is NOT required.
